Nepal Elections

We would be remiss if we did not mention that Wednesday was an historic day in Nepal as they held elections to re-write the constitution, elect a new constituent assembly, and formally abolish the 240-year-old monarchy.

At Sam's House, the didis took turns going to the voting booth so they could each participate in this momentous day.

Many Nepalis still harbor doubts about what the election will accomplish, remembering the level of hardship and bloodshed that preceded this day. There is still a large amount of skepticism between the Maoists and other political parties, but everyone hopes for the best.
