2006 U.S. Report on Nepal

Because many of our supporters inquire about the safety and stability of Nepal, I thought the latest U.S. report on terrorism in Nepal might be of interest to some.

You can read the Nepal excerpts at Nepal Monitor.

The report does acknowledge that "the United States [is] the only country to maintain its designation of the Maoist insurgency as a terrorist organization."

Most of the infractions (abductions, extortion) cited are from prior to the peace settlement in May 2006, and, in my opinion, many of those infractions seem overstated because they are out of context and unsupported.
